DAS Questions

Any DAS gurus out there?

  1. I need to compile some type of History report on all DAS
activity. For Example: When users submitted, who submitted, how long did it take to run, which reports errored out, etc … Is this information stored in a table or is it stored on the NT box? Is there a way to get this info?

  2. I’m not familiar at all with v3.1 Batch reporting. Previously there were some Unix scripts written based on v3.1 Repository Batch processing. We need to Cross reference v3.1 to v4.2 Repository Table structures so we can modify/tailor these scripts. What we really want to do is remotely (via a script) control when the DAS goes up and down. Is there an easy way to do this?

We update the Datamart every weekend. We want to make sure while this is happening that the DAS is not running. We want to startup DAS after this update is complete. The time the update is complete is the problem. It could be at 11:00pm Saturday or 3:30 am Sunday. As part of their update process we want to start the DAS when it is finished with the Update. Similarly we want to shut it down before the update starts.

  1. What happens to DAS, queued reports and running reports when the NT Box is shutdown either gracefully or crash?

Thanks,

Hector

Hector,

I will be giving a presentation at the upcoming Business Objects International User Conference titled, “Taking Batch Reporting Seriously” It will directly address your need to have DAS start-up after a database refresh, and your Question &3 on what happens to queued reports when a DAS is shut down gracefully vs. crashed. Hope to see you there.
