create a copy of existing repository

I want to create a copy of existing repository as I want to use this for migrating to XiR2. I have got the following steps.

1.create a copy of the existing repository on the database
2.Do the safe recovery to generate the new bomain key
3.Change the connections of universe and document domain to point it
to new Repository DB.

I think these are the steps. Please correct me on them. Also how do implement the 2nd and 3rd steps.
