Contexts versus Aliases

Hello friends,

I read somewhere, while trying to find the best way to choose from aliases and contexts, the following sentence.

Can someone please explain, what exactly that means?

Thanks!

Also, did you read / understand this topic?

Thanks Dave! That was a very detailed explanation of handling loops!

So, from my understanding after reading your blog article, is that Contexts are to be nagivated from the one end to the many end all through the chain, correct?

Also, Can someone please direct me to Steve Krandel’s presentations? I couldn’t open his yahoo briefcase.

Thanks!

A context can include any one - many - one relationships. In a star schema that typically includes all of the dimensions and a single fact table, which is why you will often read “one context per fact” but that’s not exclusive.

I read somewhere else that Steve’s Yahoo briefcase links didn’t work anymore, but never confirmed that. I don’t know that he’s uploaded the content anywhere else.
