changing location of objects file

To all,

I’ve recently installed a Master setup and used the default location of the security files which would have been on the server. After doing some workstation installs I noticed that when each user tries to login they had a list of all users in their dropdown listbox. This was due to each using objects.ssi. After calling BO support they told me to copy the objects.lsi (and objects.bak)file locally and use the modify button to change the location of this security file. This works, but you basically have to reinstall something to have things configured correctly.

I found another way that bypasses the reinstall(which the reinstall probably does). After copying the objects.lsi/bak files you can modify the registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\BusinessObjects\Security and change the Objects value from ‘Shared’ to ‘Local’. The workstation user only sees ids that have been used locally.

This may work for other file locations, but I’m not sure. Has anyone tried this?
