Career in datawarehousing.. please advice

Hello BOB experts
I am asking this question on behalf of on of my frnd.
She is having 4-5 yrs of exp in Microsoft Tech. like SQL server , .net, sharepoint etc.
But now she wants to make a career in Datawarehousing and BI and is simulataneously pursuing MS with
datawarehousing and BI as one of its subjects.
But the doubt is whether such a change would b considered as a Career shift ?? or an upgradation ??
Please advice.

if she’s into a technical aspect beforehand then it would be good to say that she’s in a “career advancement” rather a career change, in the longrun though being in BI industry means being exposed to some business related information that might become a bridge to a full career shift.

I would suggest, in the first instance, that this is a career shift.

If you then go and become a BI Architect then that would, obviously, be an upgraduation…:).
