Is cardinality ever used in the generation of SQL? I believe I have been told it is only used in Designer to propose contexts.

Greg,

Cardinalities are not used in the generation of SQL. You are right, they are only used to propose contexts and aliases for resolving loops in universes.

Be careful: Cardinalities are indirectly used for SQL generation, because the contexts which are detected (depending on cardinality) influence the query-generation!
