Can't open document due to unknown error

I searched the archives but found no resolution for this. Has anyone been
able to repair a document that gives the following error:
‘Can’t open document due to unknown error.’

Has anyone been able to repair a document that gives
the following error: ‘Can’t open document due to unknown error.’

We’ve had this error when our repository connection was set to ‘translate CCSID
65535’. CCSID stands for coded character set ID (on AS/400) and has to do with
data exchange between different systems. When CCSID 65535 is translated, all
binary files (*.rep) will end up being ‘translated’, hence corrupting the files.
