We are running BO 4.1.3. Our repository is on DB2/MVS. We currently use CAE 5.2 which works fine. Recently our LAN support team installed CAE 6.1 for some people and we are now having problems. The users with CAE 6.1 can log into BO, but when they try to create or refresh a report, they receive the message - “No universe domain is available”. Does anyone know of a patch for this or had the same experience? When we go back to CAE 5.2 BO works correctly. I say we go back to 5.2 since we know it works but our LAN support wanted me to at least post the question!
Thanks,

I have to ask, is there a chance that there is a configuration file in the 5.2 directory that you need to move / copy to the 6.1 directory?
I have seen this an awful lot in oracle setups where an install resets something - the classic example is the listener ports go back to 1521 / 1526, folks that use something different are hosed. Can you connect to the universe tables directly thru your tool(s)? would that maybe shed some light on this?
I know I am thinking Oracle, but just a thought - hadn’t seen any other responses, hate to not try…

Here’s a CAE issue that may come up(even though this may not be what you’re after)…
AS400 - Cannot open file due to an unknown error on retrieving documents from the repository–you get the error message “Cannot open file due to an unknown error”.
Its b/c the middleware, client access is set to translate CSSID 65535, which means on export to and import from the repository, the reports are translated into BLOBS or hexidecimal code rendering the format unrecognisable by BusinessObjects.
SO:
Launch the ODBC Administrator
Select the DSN used to access the repository and hit configure 3. Under a tab called Other, in the Translation section, check the box ‘Do not translate CSSID 65535’
Click OK and retry the export/import of reports
Also check:
Under the Performance tab or Packages Tab 2. “Enable Extended Dynamic Support” is checked
