businessobjects to word

Does BusinessObjects in version 6 do any better of a job saving to Microsoft word?

Nope. Saving a report to Word is not an option.

Saving a report to Excel is a better option anyway.

Why would you want to save to Word? You can just embed a report in Word.

I don’t see the usefulness of saving a BO report as WORD document. Save as Excel is a too good an option and our v6.1b users love to have the data in excel sheet

I don’t know what you mean by “better”. If you were using the RTF format to save to Word before, you should be able to continue using it. The RTF (rich text file) specification has not changed, so I don’t know that BusinessObjects would have attempted to change their process.

As has been mentioned, Excel is now an option. PDF continues to be an option, which is most likely going to be better than Word anyway.

Thanks for the input. In our shop bo is used as a production reporting tool. So the user expects Invoice like bo reports to copy exactly into word. This will allow them to change the numbers. But we all know you need to use Cyrstal.

Excel would give the users the ability to change the numbers? We use Word for some users who don’t have Adobe on their laptops  - it’s okay just slightly limiting.

To add to what Nick said, I’ve always found it better to do invoices in Excel anyway. The functionality to add across tabs and such like enables you to track a series of company invoices AND the added bonus of feeding it back into SQL Server to see if invoices have changed.
