I’ve done multiple installs using Oracle 7.1 Sqlnet 2.2 and haven’t had any problems. Today, I tried to install on one machine and got the following error message:
Unable to Reach Repository
I know it isn’t a sqlnet 2.2 problem because that message is usually something about the network layer. I deinstalled and reinstalled twice.
To me it sound like there is a configuration problem with the file C:\ORAWIN95\NETWORK\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora.
That file, along with the Bomain.key direct you to the repository. If the Bomain was the problem- you would get a different message, or not even get a log in screen. If your Tnsnames.ora is correct the other problem (assuming you are using Win95) is the path is not correct. Check the autoexec.bat to see that c:\Orawin95 is in the path statement and working.
Julie, I happened to get a support call today and my user got exactly that error message. The problem is in the c:\ ORAWIN95 or orawin bin file. It may not be in the user path correctly. You may even want to check if this is the only Orawin in the path. If by chance there are two references (like my user had) it will try and resolve the first instance of orawin… against the repository domain. Check the autoexec.bat to see that c:\Orawin95 is in the path statement and working. laurenf@bellatlantic.net
