Business Objects, Designer and Windows XP

We have a Problem working with Business Objects Fullclient and
Designer as Standarduser on Windows XP.

Fullclient and Designer only work if the User is
an Admin or Poweruser. A User with Standard Userrights
cannot start Fullclient or Designer.

Is there a way to let a Standarduser work with Fullclient
and Designer?

Thank you

Marc

which release of Bo are you using ? 5.1.x ? 6.1.x ?

I think BO can’t start because of rights problem on Bo registry keys

I recommend you to use tool like regmon

http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/regmon.shtml

to scan which keys of the registry are open at bo launching, first with poweruser (successuf) and after with baseuser (fail)

Comparing the two will show u which keys put problem and you will have to give it more NT rights

We use 5.1.4, but on a Testsystem with 6.1b ithere are the
same Problems.

I will try with the regmon tool.

Thank you

Just tried it with a Standard User.

It seems that one must have full Access to the
HKLM/Software Key

so you found the origine of the trouble…

Hmm, bad news since we can’t give all Users full access to
the HKLM/Software Key.

Is there no other way?

I’ve also tried the “allow…exe” from the first CD but this
doesn’t seem to work?

How about just HKLM\Software\Business Objects key? I don’t think they need access to all the other ones under Software.

Unfortunately this doesn’t work.

The Fullclient don’t start and Regmon reported an Access Denied
on HKLM\Software.
