BO Version 3.1

Hi Listers,

Does anyone know the reason why BO Version 3.1 is not Y2K compatible? A
lot of people are scrambling to upgrade, and I was just wondering why.
Thanks.

I have BO V3.1 patch 21 and it seems to word well after Y2K
The patch 21 corrects problems on conditions with date after Y2K.

Debra,
I think there is a patch # 19 or something to make BO 3.1 Y2K
Compatible.
Good Luck

Why would you want to stay on a product that will no longer be supported after this year???

Combining WebI with the Client (4.1.3) got us off the 3.1 product. Also you are having to run 16bit applications with 32bit operating systems.

BO has been very explicit about support for the 3.1 product and support.

Debra,

That’s patch #18… and it does make BO 3.1 year 2000 compliant. I
have implemeted it at a previous site. Basically the patch forces you
to use four digit years and your machine settings to four digit years.

Hope that helps!

I personally have been off of version 3.1 for more than 2 years.
Why are they still running 3.1?

Debra, how fortunate that you were in a position to be able to convert
right away. Some people (like us) are only now converting to version 4
because:

a.) A consideration in selecting BusinessObjects as a decision-support tool
was that it supported both the PC and the Macintosh. We have many users on
the Macintosh.
b.) When version 4 was first announced, there was going to be a Macintosh
version; then the decision was made to no longer support the Mac platform
c.) We needed to evaluate our options to decide whether or not to convert,
or to pursue other products
d.) Then WebIntelligence was promoted to be a solution for Mac users
e.) The first release of WebIntelligence was not quite a reliable or
functional as some might desire.

WebIntelligence now truly looks like an alternative. We needed to decide
to upgrade universes to 4.1, and to buy an additional server for
WebIntelligence, and configure it.

That’s our story.
