An unhandled exception has occured in Business Objects

Hello,

1- We are using Business Objects 6.5

2- We open a report, we ran it and it’s ok

3- We try to save the report in EXCEL format and we get a strange long error message:
"An unhandled error has occured. Please report this to your local Business Objects Technical Support … Code C0000005 EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION …"
For a more detailed description of the report please see attached file.

4- Then we can only click on the “Abort” button or “Save”. When we click on the Save button, it simply saves the error message i believe. When we clik on the “Abort” it closes Business Objects …

5- We are able to save the report in PDF format.

6- We are able to export the same report in EXCEL format on all other machines but this one no luck …

ANY IDEAS anyone ?

Thans in advance !

Some hints or things to check:

  1. Is Excel installed on the machine where you have this problem?

  2. Do you have the same problem when someone else log in to BO on the same machine?

  3. Is machine RAM comparable to RAM on other machines where it works?

  4. Check the temp folder in the machine and clean it. Delete everything what is not required.

1- Yes Excel is installed on the problematic machine

2- Yes i have logged in Business Objects 6.5 with a Supervisor user name and ran the report succesfully but whenever i save it in excel format it generates the strange error message.

3- Not sure about this but the problematic computer is a brand new labtop with tablet (digital screen etc …) so it is a powerfull labtop.

4- The C:\Windows\Temp folder was cleaned up but still some files were not able to delete because it was beeing used. But all applications were closed. But the error message still there.

Any other ideas amigo ?

Not really. No other idea than re-installation of BO

It’s a shot in the dark, but try installing this on the client’s station:

Could try the follows: Also if you find any other ideas please include them.

2- Go to Windows registry and Delete if any prior BO versions or duplicate entries…

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software
  • HKEY_CURRENT_MACHINE/Software

3 – Purge the report’s result: Go to View Data, from “Result” tab of Data Manager, highlight the query (Left Pane “Data Providers” and Click on “PURGE”
