Misplaced Administrator Password and License Key has Expired

Hi all,

I’ve installed BOXI R2 SP2 on a windows server. It has been successfully deployed and I have been using it for several years. However, now the license key has expired and I get the following error when I logon as a guest or any other user.

All of your system’s 0 Concurrent Access Licenses are in use at this time or your system’s license key has expired. Try again later or contact your administrator to obtain additional licenses.

I have misplaced the Administrator so I cannot logon to the CMC to enter in a new license key.

Does anyone know how to update the license key without knowing the Administrator password?

Reinstalling the entire application is not an option in this case.

Thank you,

The other place you can see license file is in CCM.CONFIG. I am not sure by re-entering license file here and re-starting servers picks up. Do some research and you can give shot.

Or

Try logging into CMC using any other user ID which had highest rights and see if you can change license key

Taureen,

What directory is the file CCM.CONFIG located in? As soon as I can find the file, I will update it and see if it works.

WARNING: manually making changes in the CMS database is not recommended or supported by BO. This is a dangerous procedure.

The administrator account in an XIr2 deployment always has objectID 12. Here’s how I force the administrator account to be recreated with the default blank password value:

  • in the table CMS_InfoObjects5 in your XI CMS database, find the row with ObjectID 12
  • delete this row
  • stop your CMS server
  • restart your CMS server

Gadzooks! ObjectID 12 has been recreated automatically (check it, it really has reappeared in the table). You can now log on to the CMC with the default administrator credentials (blank password).

Once again: this is not supported by BO. Be very careful. Make a backup of your CMS database before you tinker with it.

Good luck,

m.

dutchbint,

This solution for deleting row 12 and then re-starting the services was perfect. The administrator password returned to its default position. We were then able to login as Administrator with a blank password, and insert new license keys.

Thank you very much for your help,
