       Thanks for your Doc, What is the meaning of Data element Name column  which you have specified in the Object Mapping table in your Design Doc Template.

It’s a good way for content management. have you been to a client side where they have 100+ reports but no documentation and you are asked to migrate from old version to new and find gaps… night mare for any one…

Extreemly Useful.

My Suggestion would be

Change it to Excel format.

Write macros to keep only required things…

Summay page will be checkboxes of what design steps taken , (Check only if its used) Then worksheet will be added to document

Sorting
Report Level Variables

I will try to develop excel version out of it. But main source is YOU. Thanks

Hi Vijay, just curious here about your side of the processes. Do the report designers fill up this template and hand it out to developers to create as per these specs ? That cant be because no one can determine beforehand what objects are included or the SQL query behind the reports.
Or is it one of those"design review" deliverables that no one pays attention to ? That cant be so as well because its so comprehensive that you’d actually have to build the report first and document it later. In that case - its a code/feature documentation similar to a universe pdf export.

Don’t get me wrong - this is great and comprehensive. However In my experience, verbose documentation for whats is essentially a UI design based tool is actually more counterproductive than being useful. An impact or lineage system based on InformationSteward, Auditor or any custom wiki etc is actually of much higher value to change management. Also an annotated excel mockup for report design specs is actually of more value for developers of the reports than a detailed spec.
