6.1b Deployment

I’ve been asked to do a server based deployment for 6.1b. This is not an upgrade and I’ve never done this before. :!:

Are there any rudimentary steps I need to follow to get up and running? Is it easy or is it pretty difficult. All I’ve done before is a local installation of 5.1.1 which was a piece of cake!!

6.1b server installation is defintely a TOUGHIE… I willnot say that it is very hard to do it… But you need to configure things like Application server… But I am sure you can do it if you go through the documentation well before starting… Make some notes and and start the deployment…

All the Best

Obtain (download) and read the deployment guide. I believe that it essentially provides everything you need.

It’s actually the easiest release I’ve ever installed. Load the software, run the configuration tool (you have to choose ASP or JSP), then copy your .key file. I’m assuming you have your middleware configured.

It’s very simple if you follow the directions.

I told you I’d never done this before!! !!

No one can tell you exactly what to do. You have to install the middleware that corresponds to the database you are connecting to.

Download the deployment guide. You need to understand what is in there so that you will be able to ask more specific questions.

The deployment of 6.1b should be same as 6.1a.

Essentially the steps are as foolows:

  1. Load the installer and choose server setup

  2. Point out the location of the license file

  3. Choose the required components to be installed.

  4. complete install

  5. open the configuration tool and select the default option if ur having only one server. Name ur app and web server according to whats installed in ur sever. Restart.

  6. Open the supervisor and use login name as GENERAL and password as SUPERVISOR. At this stage ur creating the repository. choose the databse server , database name and the BOMAIN key name.

  7. create a user and password.
7 . enable the modules for this user.

  8. exit Supervisor and start using BO.

hope this helps.
