Report Conversion Tool issue

Hello BOB users,

I am encountering an issue with the Report Conversion Tool (XI 3.1 client tools). After successfully logging in I am able to select my reports over but when I attempt to convert them it will hang for a second and crash.

I’ve tried updating my java to java 7 update 25 along with upgrading to SP 6. I’m running low on options at this point and cannot figure out what’s wrong with it.

Are you converting Deski to Webi?
Have you purged the reports before conversion?
Are you using an admin account?
Have you tried on another machine?
Have you tried just converting one report, to see if the process works?
Switch on the RCT logs and see what errors you get.

You need to check whether this Java patch level is actually supported for 3.1.

Have you checked for any error messages under:

  • Event Viewer
  • Business Objects logging folder

Have you got full rights on your PC? Maybe you will need write access to the Windows temp folder

-I am converting from Deski to Webi
-I’ve purged the data
-Using a regular account with admin rights
-This is happening on two machines right now currently
-I’ve tried converting just one report, unfortunately still crashing :confused:

Check these and admin rights on the PC, as suggested. Also you could try an earlier Java version.
What OS are you running on the workstation? Are the BO client tools the same version as your server install?

I’ll try running an older version of java to see if that will fix it. And the workstation is on Win7 and the client tools are the same for the server.
