Webi Rich Client - cannot stop LOVs being refreshed?

Using v3.1 SP3…

I can’t find any other postings relating to this subject, but can anyone confirm the following, or otherwise:

In Deski:

Having removed all LOVs from my PC, I create a new report in with a Condition based upon an Object’s value which was retrieved from an LOV. The LOV is created in:

D:\Users\BOB1\Application Data\Business Objects\Business Objects 12.0\Universes@bobj_prod\U_CMC\CMC - Phase 5\objec012.lov

When changing the query to use a different value, the LOV is not refreshed unless I force it to do so.

LOVs remain after quitting the Deski. Application.

In WRC:

Creating the same report as above, the LOV is created in:

D:\Users\BOB1\Local Settings\Temp\RichClient.160\1\lov_00\AaSO7GpfcbtCpEuZlxwL5Q0\UNIVERSELOV_DS0.DO25.lov

When changing the query to use a different value, the LOV is always refreshed (even though in the Universe this option is not selected).

If I then create a new report, identical to the first one, a second LOV is created in:

D:\Users\rBOB1\Local Settings\Temp\RichClient.160\2\lov_00\AR.w2a2QnBBHgjSOKsM254Q\UNIVERSELOV_DS0.DO25.lov

LOVs are deleted when quitting the WRC application.

So, in summary:

In Deski, LOVs are:

  •      Linked to the Universe

  •      Only refreshed once, unless forced to do otherwise

  •      Retained permanently

In WRC LOVs are:

  •      Linked to the individual reports

  •      Always refreshed when used

  •      Temporary, and deleted when closing the application.

I’m really surprised that nobody has responded to this post.

Am I alone in having the problem that LOVs in Webi are always refreshed?

It’s becoming a real pain!

I find something like you mention in the knowledge base (1455912 - Web Intelligence report refresh queries database for List of Values (LOV) even though the LOV is not set to automatic refresh before use.)

And with the help of a DBA capturing the SQL, I have just proved that this is the reason why a report prompt screen in Webi Rich Client takes far longer to appear than through Infoview.

So, if you had a report with five prompts, and LOV was switched on for each of them, in WRC it would refresh all five LOVs before showing the prompt screen! This happens even when the ‘Automatic Refresh Before Use’ in the Universe is unchecked. :hb:
