Restricting access to Favourites folders

We are using XIR2. Our users save reports into their Favourites folder, but if another user types the report title into the search bar, they can access the report, even though they can’t directly acces the folder. Is there any way around this?

Thanks,

Fiona

Hum, sound strange. It’s not the default behavior

I suspect some view right for everyone set at a top-level.

Can you specify the right in the CMC in Folder/User Folders - Rights ?

Thanks

Are you sure this is the same report? Maybe it is the report with the same name sitting somewhere else.

What version of XI R2? I seem to recall a bug in early XI R2 versions where this happened. Or maybe it was inboxes?

Also, double-check the permissions on the User Folders section in the CMC, make sure it is open to all users.

Hi, We have this in our XIr2 and we like it. However, I think I had to change the security settings in Folders, Users Folders, to enable everyone to see other people’s folders. In fact, it was real pain in 3.1 to get the same access (although it requires an additional step).

Working the other way, perhaps you could change it so that “Everyone” can only "View Objects that user owns"in User Folders. I would guess this would restrict the access to only the user’s folders and documents.

Correct it used to be a bug before SP2 if I well remember…

Quite tricky to find a workaround since if other users need to send documents to UserA inbox then users need extra rights on UserA inbox …
