Export Rights from Custom Access Level to Excel

How can I export the rights from Custom Access Levels to Excel? Thanks.

I understand you are trying to export the details of the security set up onto an excel file.
You could try using a tool like Security viewer. I have not tried, but I think it is possible.

No since the security viewer is for Xir2 and access level within Xi3…

There are no Excel export options in the CMC.

I should have included:
BOE XI 3.1 SP2
web server: Windows 2003 and Tomcat
repos server: SQL Server 2005

I was hoping to export rights from custom access levels that we’ve created and migrated between dev and production using the migration tool. I’d like to compare post migration to validate. Unfortunately, sounds like this is not out-of-the-box functionality. I will look into SDK/Excel macro.

Thanks for suggestions.

I believe the product “360View” from Infosol will export all your security settings… no clue what it cost however.

Please download the Security Viewer 2.2 from http://www.businessobjectstips.com/tips/tools/business-objects-security-viewer/# (took some time to open up the page) or http://www.businessobjectstips.com/downloads/Security_Viewer_2-2.zip or from SAP BO support (search for security Viewer 2.2). Set JAVA_HOME environment variable (use jre 1.5.0_07) and install the application. Enter System, Administrator and password. You could able to view the business object security settings for XIR3.1. To export select File --> Export options in CSV.

Security Viewer 2.2 when run against a 3.1 repository will not pick up all security Rights names , there will be lots of “Unknown right”'s listed. Shame … :frowning:

Hello,

Has anyone been able to query the CMS database to get the Custom Access levels in the repository?

I need to get a list of all the users/groups and what Custom Access level they have over the folders/universes in the repository. For instance, Group A - Content Developer - Folder 1
Group B - Content Standard - Folder 1
Group C - Content Standard - Universe 1

My environment: BOE 3.1 SP2, Apache Tomcat, Windows 2003, Java Infoview, SLQ Server 2005.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

There is no way to achieve this using the query builder or even the security viewer… CMS sdk is the only way to get the list you need.

Hi,
maybe someone has created vba macro to export rights form acces levels to excel?

Thanks

@Sebastien. What is the class in the .NET SDK that gives you the CALs information? I know there is function in the JAVA SDK that gives you the info but couldn’t find one in the .NET SDK.

@kkl. I ended up checking all the rights one by one and compare them with my CALs. For instance, if my “content standard” CAL had 10 rights, I checked all the rights (from the infoObject) against these 10. I know this is not the right way to do it and takes a lot of time, however it worked for me until I learn how to use the Java SDK.

Hi,

I also faced same problem of exporting access level’s included rights to excel for documentation purpose.
We can do this by an option in Excel sheet: Data–>Import External Data–>New Web Query option and give the CMC (3.1) URL there and navigate till access levels included rights and select the appropriate table and import.

Hi

No still the same stuff CMS sdk, third party tool …

I think this feature doesn’t exist even in BI4 … Need to double check this!

OK, thanks.

Maybe it’s time to learn Java and how to use the BOBJ SDK  I already downloaded Eclipse but haven’t time to start learning it.

Hello,

We had a similar problem (extract security configuration and real user rights for a list of documents) that we solved with a amazing third part tool which allow repository metada access throw standard SQL.

I’ve checked it for your answer. I’ve created a webi report which list all access level and their definition.
