[Solved] Universes import/export via Java API

Hi everybody!

I don’t know if here is the good place to expose my problems, but I’ll try…

I make an internship in a great company in Strasbourg (France), where there is the informatic center of this company in Alsace. They manage universes for all offices in the region and must transmit them the new versions when modified. To do that manually, it take about 9 complete days :!:, so they developed a software in VB6 which make it automatically by driving Designer.
Now that they migrate to XIR2 SP3 version, VB6 is not further working, so my mission consists in adapting the software in Java.

But I’ve got a really “insignificant” problem: I cannot find the SDK documentation (the JavaDoc, I mean)!
My “internship master” (I’m not sure about this translation) and I have searched for it on the BO website and on the BOB but we didn’t find anything. The problem is that we don’t really know what we’re searching for: Java? JavaDoc? SDK? Documentation? Import/export? Designer? Other? We don’t know.

So if anybody could indicate me where I can find that @.}#,§$ JavaDoc (or at least what I’m searching for…), I would be very thankful for him. And please, give me an accurate link if posible (or where I can find it in my BO install), because I don’t find anything by searching…

Hem… Nobody knows it or it’s a stupid question ? Or maybe the question isn’t clear ? :expressionless:

Have a look at this post, it may help with your questions… .

Thanks for your answer, but it wasn’t really helpful… :?

In fact, the problem is that I don’t know which SDK I need to use! I found two link which can help me:

  • the BO Developer Library: I don’t know what I need in all that clutter (but compulsory Java);
  • the BO Enterprise Java SDK: I don’t know what to do with that because there are almost only getters (IUniverse notably isn’t very useful whereas it should)… :o

I saw many JavaDoc since I’m searching, but none which could do what I want, or they hide it very well…

Then you are out of luck. Importing and exporting of universes is done with the Universe Designer and Desktop Intelligence SDKs, which are COM, not Java / .NET.

From the post linked to:-

I totally disagree, you got your answer, it was just not what you wanted to hear  .

Um, no, read the above…

AARGH!
Er… Houston, we’ve got a problem: my software has to match JSP to integrate an intranet platform, and I don’t know COM… :frowning:

And… It seems your link doesn’t work…
[Edit] This link?

Yes, you’re right, sorry… It was just not enough… explicit.

I think, if you read carefully, the above is pretty explicit  .

Time to get the books out… 8) .

Not enough for me.

I’ve got the first version of the software which is in VB6, and I think it won’t be very hard to adapt it for XI.

Anyway, thank you for your answers, I’ll can now begin to do something!

Thats the spirit, good luck…
